  • This study aimed to find out the effect of inquiry and advance organizer learning models on students’ science process skills of respiratory system at MAN Rantauprapat. The population of this study were the entire students of grade XI-IPA MAN Rantauprapat consisting of 4 classes (XI1 about 32 students, XI2 about 35 students, XI3 about 35 students and XI4 about 35 students). The samples of the study were grade XI2 treated by using inquiry, grade XI3 treated by using advance organizer and grade XI4 treated by using conventional learning model. The data collecting instruments of students’ science process skills were essay tests. The technique of data analysis which was used namely an analysis of covariate (ANCOVA) with α = 0.05. The results of this study were: (1) The results of an analysis of covariate (ANCOVA) showed that those learning models had a significant effect to students’ science process (F = 362,48; P = 0,000). The average of students’ science process skills treated by inquiry has given an effect of 2,11% higher than treated by advance organizer and of 35,80% higher than treated by conventional learning model. Class which was taught by using advance organizer has given an effect of 34,06% higher than conventional learning model. It could be concluded that there was a significant effect of inquiry and advance organizer learning models on students’ science process skills of respiratory system at MAN Rantauprapat.
