Daftar Isi:
- The aims of this research were to define whether: 1) students’ speaking achievement higher taught by using IOC or NHT strategy, 2) for high interest students higher taught by using IOC or NHT strategy, 3) for low interest students higher taught by using IOC or NHT strategy, 4) there were interactions between teaching strategies and students’ interest. The XI Grade of SMA Swasta Sinar Husni was the population in this research. There were 4 classes and there 36 students each class. Two classes which consisted of 72 students became the sample. This research used experimental research. The XI Science-1was taught by using the IOC Strategy and the XI Science2 was taught by using NHT strategy. The Questionnaire was administrated for classifying the interest of the students’ speaking achievement. Students’ speaking achievement test was measured by using dialogue between two students. The data were analysed by applying two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) at the level of significance α = 0.05. The result of data analysis proved that; 1) Students’ speaking achievement taught by using IOC strategy was higher than taught by using NHT strategy, 2) Students’ speaking achievement with high interest higher taught by using IOC strategy than taught by using NHT strategy, 3) For low interest students higher taught by using IOC than NHT strategy, 4) There was interaction between teaching strategies and students’ interest, with 24.73 > 0.05. Moreover, Scheffe – Test result also showed that the students’ interest got better achievement if they were taught by using Inside-Outside Circle strategy
