Modality in Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno Speech

- This research was aimed at finding out the modality in sandiaga salahuddin uno speech. The objective of this descriptive qualitative research were to : (1) analyze the types of modalities are used in the the speech by Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno (2) investigate realization of modalities are used in the the speech by Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, and (3) find out the reason for the use of modalities in the speech by Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. The data source of this research are the video recorder on YouTube. The video were transcribe into the transcription as the data of this research. This research was conducted qualitatively by applying the three steps of interactive model as data analysis. Then, the data were analyzed by using interactive model which consists of three steps as data condensation including selecting, focusing, simplifying, abstracting and transforming, data display and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the modality types in speech found in the study was modalization, realization of the study, modal auxiliary verbs were the most dominant found in sandiaga uno speech, amd the reason of modality was found that mitigating claims of by showing some kinds of uncertainty as the most dominant reason of modality in speech .The second was expressing lack of ful commitment, the third was expressing politeness and searching for being acepted.
