  • This study aimed to describe the use of two stay-two stray strategy on students’ reading and comprehending of descriptive text and investigating the reasons of using two stay – two stray strategy at the eighth grade of SMP N 30 Medan in the academic year of 2019/2020. This study was conducted by using qualitative research. The data of this study were collected by using observation and interview to the process of two stay – two stray strategy on students’ reading and comprehending descriptive text and students’ result of descriptive text as supported data. The teacher was adapted theory of Anita Lee (2004). The findings of this study showed that the teacher implemented three steps of TSTS strategy in teaching reading descriptive text. The steps were pre activity, whilst activity and post activity. The reason of why the teacher used this strategy was it made the students interested and understand with the material. This research is expected to be an inspiration for other researcher to conduct more conductive research in the future about strategy in learning English.
