  • The REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) program focuses more on carbon stock than the conservation of biodiversity. Therefore, this study tries to answer the relationship between carbon stock and biodiversity in Meru Betiri National Park by using 40 permanent sample plots of 20 x 100 m which have been used to calculate carbon stocks. The carbon stock of each permanent plot then regressed with the biodiversity index, number of species and number of individual trees of each permanent plots. The results showed that the regression between carbon stocks and biodiversity indices produced a regression equation of Y = 1.953 + 0.001 x + e with a coefficient determination of R = 0.028. The equation is only explained 2.8% of the relationship between carbon stocks and biodiversity indices. The regression between carbon stocks and number of species produces equation of Y = 9.543 + 0.02x + e with a coefficient of determination R = 0.075. The equation only explains 7.5% of the relationship between carbon stock and the species richness. Regression between carbon stocks with the number individual of trees produced the regression equation of Y = 17.403 + 0.50 x + e with R = 0.102. The equation explains 10.2% of the relationship between carbon stock and the number of individual of trees. It was concluded that carbon stocks are not related to biodiversity.
