LECTURERS’ FEEDBACK OF STUDENTS’ WRITING

- This study deals with the Lecturer's Feedback of Students’ Writing. This study attempted to investigate the types of feedback used by writing lectures, the process and the reasons why the types of feedback are applied in writing class. This study was conducted by using qualitative design. The data in this study were the text of procedure class writing given by two lecturers of the fourth semester in writing class in private university of Medan. The feedback was transcribed in order to be analyzed. From the data analysis and findings it is found that direct and indirect feedback were type feedback provided differently toward two lecturers in teaching writing class. The dominantly process of giving feedback are praising-indirect feedback- and correcting explicitly -direct feedback- and there are four new feedback process as judging, presuming question, diverting, and confirming. The reason of providing feedback was done by different lecturers because they helped to clarify what good procedure text writing was, corrected the students’ writing, encouraged and promoted positive motivational beliefs in learning writing activity given in teaching writing class.
