- Didong gayo is one of arts in Gayonese about telling the message that consist of education, history and anything that useful to the society. The objective of this study is to identify the translation shift in translating text of didong from Gayonese into Bahasa Indonesia. This is a qualitative research. The source of data is a document. The data was taken from a book about Gayonese which consist of some texts of didong. After analyzing the data, the result showed that the dominant category shift found in didong Gayo is unit shift.
