- Indonesia-Singapore border region, especially the Strait of Singapore, Batam Island and Bintan Island has a huge potential. Strait of Singapore as an example, in addition to be the area that connects the boat traffic the Middle East and Europe to East Asia, it also has sizable mineral deposits. Batam and Bintan Island also has a huge potential in tourism, fish farming and industry. However, the potential of the region is not optimal to contribute to increase the prosperity in that border region. Therefore there are several steps that can streamline the economic potential to improve the welfare of the community, including the clear investment policy, especially with regard to mineral potential in the Malacca Strait, improving infrastructure as an attraction for investors, changing the orientation of the maritime and overland to apply the model of Integrated Border management (IBM) in the management of the harbor directly opposite Singapore.
