  • This study deals with Male and Female Karonese University Students Attitudes towards Cakap Karo. It was aimed to investigate the types of the attitudes of Male and Female Karonese University Students, the levels of attitudes by Male and Female Karonese University Students Attitudes towards Cakap Karo realized and the reason or the factors why do they have the attitude such the ways they did. This study used descriptive qualitative method then the design was descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this were Male and Female Karonese University students in University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara in Medan. The object of this study were the language attitudes Male and Female Karonese University Students towards Cakap Karo in UMSU. The data were analyzed by using the Interactive Model by Miles, Huberman and Saldana. Based on the data analysis, Male and Female Karonese University Students in UMSU showed that, Karonese male University students were higher attitudes or had more positive attitudes than female one towards Cakap Karo. Then male Karonese University Students have positive attitude towards Cakap Karo in the level on receiving, responding, valuing, organizing, and internalizing values. Meanwhile the female one realized in level responding, valuing, internalizing values. On the other hand the female one have negative attitude towards Cakap Karo in the level of receiving and organizing. The male Karonese University students had positive attitude towards Cakap Karo because of some reasons such as: they were loyal to use Cakap Karo in their daily communication as peer of Karonese students even though in campus area and also they were proud and felt important to use Cakap Karo. Meanwhile, Karonese female had negative attitudes towards Cakap Karo because of they were disloyal to use Cakap Karo in their daily communication as peer of Karonese students , they also unaware of Cakap Karo norms, contrary, they were proud actually to use Cakap Karo but they use it sometimes in their daily communication.
