However, the major concern of this study is tounderstand the portrayal of each gender along with thequestion that does such portrayal underlines thetraditional gender roles and gender inequality. Taking adiscourse analysis perspective, this study analyzes textualdata from the lyrics of the seventeen wedding songs. Thesong selection was based on purposive samplingtechnique. The data were collected through transcriptionand recording of the audios of the songs.
