This study is qualitative in nature in the form of content analysis. The subject of the study was 110 advertising texts from The Jakarta Post newspaper collected from the edition of November 2015, February, March, April and May 2016. The advertisements were chosen purposively. Only commercial advertisements were analyzed in this study. The instrument used to collect the data was document review. It was done through document analysis method. The collected data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis: data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results of the analysis show that (1) verb (76%) is the most dominant features in terms of lexical level because it shows readable, familiar, simple and colloquial vocabulary. (2) Declarative sentence (64%) and ellipsis (63%) are the most dominant features in terms of syntactic level. Declarative sentence functions as the information of the product and services and elliptic sentence functions as the sign of daily conversation. (3) Metonymy (12%) is the most dominant feature in terms of semantic level because it is convenient to use an associated word to present the whole group or to relate with its original source. For the implementation in teaching learning process, it is suggested that the teachers understand how linguistics applied in real life situation such as in advertisement text from The Jakarta Post newspaper; therefore, they have linguistic competence in teaching English for interactive classroom activities in which it will give opportunities for students to use the target language correctly in the classroom.
