  • Thalassemia is a hereditary hemolytic anemia inherited from both parentsto their children recessive manner that requires lifelong treatment to increase lifeexpectancy. Impaired growth and development can be experienced by people withbeta thalassemia major. This study aims to investigate the relationship betweengrowth and development of toddlers with the quality of life of patients with betathalassemia major. This study was an observational analytic using cross sectionaldesign. The samples were toddlers patients with beta thalassemia major withaccidental sampling method were 39 infants, of which 9 toddlers have abnormalgrowth status, 30 infants had normal growth status, to the status of thedevelopment of abnormal accordance with 14 toddlers and 25 toddlers, while forquality of life toddlers are not normally as much as 5 normal infants and 34toddlers. Variable Assessment of quality of life through interviews usingquestionnaires on parenting toddlers PedsQLTm, growth through measurement ofweight and height toddlers Ana also development through interviews using KPSP.Data analysis using Chi-Square. The results of the analysis found no significantassociation between infant growth with quality of life of patients with betathalassemia major (p value = 0.572) and no significant association of earlychildhood development anatara quality of life of patients with beta thalassemiamajor (p value = 0.636). It can be concluded that there is no relationship betweenthe growth and development of infants with the quality of life of patients withmajor beta thalssemia.Key word: Quality of life, Growth and devolepment, Thalassemia Beta mayor
