- El-Riz is a modification of board game that uses English language for teaching speaking. It is also combined by using cards. This study aimed to create a chance for students to practice their oral language by having fun through playing the game. To conduct this research, the researcher modified the game using Design Based Research as proposed by Akker, J.V.D. To gain the data, this study used interview to dig the information of students’ needs. Besides, the content of media was based on the observation on syllabus. In addition, small group implementation was conducted to know students’ response toward this game. The result showed that the students were attractive and interested in this game. More importantly, El-Riz board game was able to help students enjoy speaking up and doing interaction actively through this game. It was based on their performance while answering the question in flash card. As a result, the teaching and learning process were done meaningfully. Keywords: El-Riz Board Game, Teaching Speaking
