  • Being a good teacher is not easy for those who have a Tourette syndrome because they get difficulty in learning, focusing in attention and making strange noises and moving uncontrollably. Yet, it is possible to do and it is proven in Front of The Class movie that portrays a teacher with Tourette syndrome to become a good teacher. Through this movie, the researcher identified criteria of a good teacher and how the main character, as a sufferer of Tourette syndrome, applies his role to be a good teacher. The research objectives were to identify the criteria of a good teacher proposed by Low and Ang, also to describe the way teacher apply his role to be a good teacher. The design of the research was descriptive qualitative. The data were got from the scenes containing criteria of a good teacher and the way teacher applies his role to be a good teacher in the Front of The Class movie. The criteria could be found in Front of The Class, those are being a role model, being persuasive and motivating, being an upright person with integrity, having positive attitude towards teaching, being selfless, caring, and helpful, being disciplined and orderliness in teaching, having sense of humor, being ever willing and having loving heart to teach were criteria of a good teacher. Although Mr. Cohen fulfilled eight of ten criteria of a good teacher, he can be called as a good teacher since at the end of the movie, he received an award that showed him as a good teacher.
