  • The objectives of this study are: Firstly, to determine the effectiveness absorption of Copper (Cu), Cadmium (Cd), Manganese (Mn), and Iron (Fe) from laboratory wastewater by various duckweed (Lemna perpusilla L.) population densities. Secondly, to determine the optimum of duckweeds population densities in the absorption of Cu, Cd, Mn and Fe. Heavy metal content and physic-chemical parameters of chemical laboratoty’s wastewater and duckweed were analysis before the study was carried out. Duckweeds are adapted in the bucket using a mixture of well water and paddy water as planting medium. The treatment are various ratios of the bucket’s surface that covered by duckweeds. To measure the depletion of heavy metal (Cu, Cd, Mn and Fe) totally, this study was carried out in 6 days period with the observation period is every 2 days. Data were analyzed by Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD), 6 treatments and 4 replications while as the blocks are the time analysis. As the treatment are various percentage of the bucket’s area coverage, which are : 0% (control, no duckweed), 12,5%, 25%, 37,5%, 50%, 62,5%, respectively. To test the differences between treatment means, the Honestly Significant of Differences (HSD) were used using 5% level of significant. The results of this study show that for 6 days of treatment, the effectiveness of copper (Cu) absorption from chemical laboratory wastewater is 70%, for Mn i s 97,13%, and Fe is 33,60% at 62,5% duckweed coverage on the bucket’s then for Cd is 56,04% at 50% duckweed coverage
