- The fact that young learners’ reading ability nowadays is still low in term of analyzing, reflecting and evaluating content of texts. Cognitive domain to improve critical thinking is still neglected and thus influences learners’ skill. Therefore, the government makes a program of Competency Based Curriculum as a reference and guidance to develop the domains of knowledge, skill, and attitude in a whole level of education. To prepare the graduated students entering a globalization era, it is required an education which is designed based on a real field-necessity. Beside academic achievement needed to success in school however, students also need other skills. The use of literature as a popular technique for teaching basic language skills (i.e. reading, writing, listening and speaking) and language areas (i.e. vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation) in our times and it is undoubted fully can be used to deliver character education to the learners in the midst of national moral values decline, violence-act issues, political incoherency which spread out and influence the country; accordingly the writer gives an attractive alternative of learning to expose social-emotional competency through drama because drama provides practical knowledge of the expressive and communicative powers of a language. Furthermore, this article is aimed to look at the drama technique and the activity that enable the interrelated sets of cognitive, affective and behavioral competencies
