- Manajer perusahaan merupakan orang yang akan selalu terlibat dalam pembuatan keputusan. Pengambilan keputusan berarti melakukan penilaian dan menetapkan pilihan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh adverse selection, negative framing dan interaksi antara adverse selection dan negative framing terhadap keputusan manajer untuk melanjutkan proyek yang mengidentifikasikan kegagalan ( eskalasi komitmen ) . Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori prospek dan teori agensi. Penelitian ini dibuat dalam bentuk eksperiman dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kecenderungan perilaku pembuat keputusan dalam proyek investasi. Dalam penelitian ini subyek eksperimennya adalah mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomika dan Bisnis Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Program Studi Manajemen angkatan 2006-2009. Pengumpulan data sampel dengan menggunakan teknik pusposive sampling, dengan ciri mahasiswa yang sudah menggambil mata kuliah Manajemen Keuangan. Untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian ini menggunakan 4 kasus yang diberikan kepada 80 responden. Dan di analisis dengan chi-square dengan membandingkan proporsi 2 populasi, yaitu proporsi manajer yang melanjutkan proyek pada setiap kondisi dengan proporsi manajer yang melanjutkan proyek tanpa setiap kondisi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adverse selection tidak berpengaruh signifikan pada keputusan manajer untuk melakukan eskalasi komitmen. Sementara itu pengaruh negatif framing tetrhadap keputusan manajer untuk melanjutkan proyek yang mengidentifikasikan kegagalan menunjukkan hasil yang tidak signifikan. Sedangkan pengaruh interaksi antara adverse selection dan negative framing menunjukkan hasil yang tidak signifikan juga terhadap keputusan manajer untuk melanjutkan proyek yang mengidentifikasikan kegagalan (eskalsi komitmen ).
- Corporate managers are people who will always be involved in decision making. Decision making means to assess and determine the choice. This study aims to examine the effect of adverse selection, negative framing and interaction between adverse selection and negative framing of the decision to proceed with the project manager to identify failure (escalating commitments). Theory used in this study is the prospect theory and agency theory. This study was made in the form of experiments in order to identify trends in the behavior of the investment project decision makers. In this study the experimental subjects were students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Satya Wacana Christian University Management Studies Program 2006-2009. Sample data collection by using purposive sampling techniques, the characteristics of students who already took this course of Financial Management. To test this hypothesis using four case studies are given to 80 respondents. And the chi-square analysis to compare proportions of two populations, the proportion of managers who continue the project at each state with the proportion of managers who continue the project without any conditions. The results of this study suggest that adverse selection does not have a significant effect on the manager's decision to conduct an escalation of commitment. Meanwhile, the negative influence of framing for decision to proceed with the project manager to identify the failure showed no significant results. While the effect of the interaction between adverse selection and negative framing did not show significant results are also against the decision to proceed with the project manager who identifies failures (escalation commitment).
