  • This study attempts to investigate the teacherâ€TMs techniques in teaching English vocabulary to students of SMP N 2 Salatiga. This study was conducted in SMP N 2 Salatiga. The subject of the study was an English teacher teaching vocabulary to the eighth grader. The data for the study were collected from six observations and an interview with the teacher. The analysis of the data shows that there are seven teaching techniques used by the teacher to teach vocabulary in eighth grade of SMP N 2 Salatiga. They are Grouping, Guessing, Games, Translation, Repetition drill, Dictation and Grammatical definition. Among the seven techniques, Translation technique was mainly used to teach vocabulary.
