  • Artemisinin is an active compound that has been identified as endoperoxide lactone sesquiterpenes. The artemisinin study as one of the many sources of antimalarial and anticancer drugs that has been carried out is A. annua. A. cina is mostly found in highlands in Indonesia as weeds and according to some research results is also contain artemisinin. The aim of this study was to determine the response of polyploid A. cina plants to the application of GA3 at various concentrations and to obtain appropriate concentrations that were able to increase the content of artemisinin in A.cina polyploid. The application of GA3 50 mgL-1, 75 mgL-1 and 100 mgL-1 gave significantly higher plant yields compared to GA3 0 mgL-1. The application of GA3 50 mgL-1, 75 mgL-1 and 100 mgL-1 gave leaf area yield, total chlorophyll content, shoot dry weight, glandular trichome density and artemisinin content which were not significantly different from control. According to the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of GA3 with various concentrations has a significant effect on A. cina polyploidy plant height while the other parameters are not significantly different. Besides that the right concentration of GA3 has not been obtained in increasing the content of artemisinin.
