  • Teaching an English as a second language to the students when the teachers themselves as a native English might be one of the challenges that every Student-Teachers had to face during their Teaching Practicum. This study is conducted in order to know the Student-Teachers’ perceptions of being NNEST which includes 10 participants with the criteria that they already had a Teaching Practicum in Semester I/ Year of 2015/2016. The 10 participants were interviewed about their perceptions regarding the advantages and disadvantages of being NNEST. The participants’ answers will be compiled and compared with Medgyes’ (2001) theory. The result shows that most of the participants answered that the advantages and disadvantages of being NNEST were able to switch into mother tongue, good at explaining grammar, confident in teaching and managed to form a good relationship and the disadvantages of being NNEST were not fluent, not have the same accent and do not have the same level of speaking as NEST.
