  • Studi ini mendiskusikan perilaku karakter utama bernama Penelope Longstreet dalam naskah film berjudul Carnage yang dijelaskan melalui plot dilihat dari the operation of structure of personality oleh Sigmund Freud. Selanjutnya, ada beberapa teori yang dipakai untuk menganalisis naskah film ini; teori – teori tersebut adalah plot, terdiri dari exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution; theory of anxiety; structure of personality, terdiri dari id, ego, superego; dan defense mechanisms. Dalam setiap tingkatan plot, terdapat kejadian – kejadian yang merepresentasikan id, ego, superego milik Penelope dan terdapat konflik antara id dan superego disebabkan oleh reaksi yang berlawanan. Hasilnya, ego milik Penelope menggunakan defense mechanisms untuk mengurangi ketegangan dari kecemasannya dimana itu adalah hasil dari konflik tersebut. Pada akhirnya, dari penemuan kejadian – kejadian dalam tingkatan plot sampai dengan operasi struktur kepribadian, perilaku Penelope dapat terungkap.
  • This study discusses the main character named Penelope Longstreet’s behavior in the film script entitled Carnage which explained through plot seen from the operation of structure of personality by Sigmund Freud. Furthermore, several theories were used in order to analyze this film script; the theories are plot which contains five stages known as exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution; theory of anxiety, the structure of personality which contains id, ego, superego; and defense mechanisms. In every stages of the plot there are events that represented Penelope’s id, ego and superego and there was a clash between id and superego because of the opposite reactions. As the result, Penelope’s ego used defense mechanisms in order to survive from her anxiety as the result of the clash. In the end, from finding out the events in the plot stages until the operation of structure of personality, Penelope’s behavior could be revealed.
