- This study is about students’ motivation to learn English at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) at Satya Wacana Christian University. The participants of study were 52 students who took English course (Integrated Course) in Semester 1 and 2 in 2009/2010 academic year offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences. The data were collected by using a questionnaire and the students were asked to rate themselves using four-point scale according to how well the items described them while taking Integrated Course. The data was analyzed based on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation using Microsoft Excel (2007) to figure out the mean of each type of motivation. The result showed that extrinsic motivation is higher than intrinsic motivation although the difference not significant. Thus, it was implying that most of FIK students learn English for external reasons. Finally, based on the findings some suggestions and recommendation for teaching English have been proposed.
