- Mass media is various from audio upto audio-visual. Mass media plays an important role in effecting a change of the community. Nowadays, media studies in traditional-form could nolonger confine itself simply on the dynamics of broadcast(Holmes, 2012). Facebook is one of which even now have become a giant company. It’s about 175 millions active accounts and the average of every account having 120 friends. Duration of account accessed is about:3 billion minutes perday and more than 18 million users are updating their profile everyday.Satya Wacana Christian University(SWCU) as well-known as miniature of Indonesia, has students who come from all around of the country.Research of Papua’s facebook group based on the high of differency between them and civils of Salatiga, with the same indicator of other ethnic’s groups in UKSW are,they all have facebook’s group. This is a study on Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) and culture,is integrated for thegoal of the study: knowing the role of the HIMPPAR Facebook group for its members on SWCU, Salatiga, through qualitative-descriptive-methods. The finding of the research which also proofs the Holtz, Kaplan&Heinlein’s theory: the practical side of HIMPPAR Facebook group makes changes in terms of values, attitudes and behavior of its members,because of its character as a networking communication media. Through its role in motivating study, ethnic ties, spreads the value and support to members, HIMPPAR Facebook group proves its existence as a media which capable in stringing a practical communication network and bringing a change
