BODY LANGUAGE USED BY THE LECTURERS OF ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF MURIA KUDUS UNIVERSITY IN TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS

- Teaching learning process is the activity to give information and discuss new knowledge in class or out of the class. To make the teaching learning process easy to understand, it is deal with the use of body Language. Body Language makes the teaching learning process more interesting so the information would be easy to understand. The objective of the this research are to describe body language used by the lecturers of English Education Department of Muria Kudus University in teaching learning process and the students perceptions of body language used by the lecturer. This research belongs to qualitative research in the type of case study. The data of this research are body language and students perceptions of body language used by the lecturers of English Education Department of Muria Kudus University in teaching learning process which are taken from 2 lecturers and 28 of the thirdth semester students of English Education Department of Muria Kudus University. The result of this research shows body language of the lecturers like serious, smiling are related to facial expression. Thumb up, pointing finger are related to gesture. Looking at the class, looking at the students, looking at the board/papers is related to eye contact. Walking in front of the class, walking through the class, body movements, sitting are related to body distance. The result of student’s perceptions of body language used by the lecturers shows that from 28 students there were 81% agree and 19% disagree for the lecturer 1 and for the lecturer 2 there were 79% agree and 21% disagree, it means the body language used by the lecturers in teaching learning process is good and students more interested when the lecturers use body language in their teaching. The writer suggests that this research can be used as a reference to know the body language of the student not only the lecturer.
