- In Spain, the big state industrial & research companies were the first to feel the need to have full time people devoted to organize their documents and to search for information. In those times librarians clearly had another different mission. Was later when boths professions approached their functions and tasks, until almost being the same. Outside those state companies information scientists did not exist. We were not classified as a "profession" in the official lists. We were considered like specialized clerks, who shared their working hours with other office tasks.
