- After a short introduction on the state of automation of the Greek academic libraries, the most important quantitative and qualitative advantages of a Union Catalogue are outlined, followed by a short description of the two basic implementation models, the central and the distributed one. Documentation is presented, on the basis of which the decision to adopt the central model for the Greek Union Catalogue was made. The phases of implementation of the project and the expected beneficial results are presented.
