  • Course Analysis, by representing course information in subject analysis terms of the library collection (classification numbers, subject headings, keywords) gives mainly the opportunity to evaluate the collection and the level of bibliographic coverage of an academic program, however it could also be used as an utility in the reference work and in bibliographic instruction. This specific study, which is considered the first application of this recognized method of evaluating collections in the Greek academic area, reviews the relevant literature, reports characteristics of this application in the environment of Greek academic libraries, and analyzes the results in relation to the benefits of the application and in combination with the Conspectus method for collection assessment. Data manipulation is done in Microsoft Access, which offers querying capabilities. For example reports can be generated proviting information about the content of the courses and the research interests of the academic faculty. This application could be used by any other academic library that wishes to apply the method of Course Analysis.
