- Until recently there was not a coordinated attempt to collect, process, analyze and present on time statistical data concerning the assessment of the services of all the Greek Academic Libraries. Consequently, there is a lack of reliable and comparative data for the evaluation of Academic Libraries. This article presents a model for the collection of statistical data and proposes a series of performance measures for the Academic Libraries' assessment. These performance measures are extremely useful for the decision making and collection management of the Universities' Libraries so that their services can be consistent and effective. Moreover, the article presents the division of the Total Quality Management Unit of Greek Academic Libraries which aims at the collection, processing, analysis and presentation of statistical data for the assessment of Academic Libraries. Finally, it presents equivalent foreign organizations that specialize in Library evaluation through the use of statistical data.
