- The project based on Greek and foreign bibliography as well as a review of Greek librarians, focuses on these subjects: The academic library, a competitive unit via the librarian, promotes on the re¬search and sciences. The academic librarian, either generalist or specialist gets away from the role of «the man for every Kind of job», under¬takes responsibly his duties serving the profile - symbol that comes from the three features of a librarian (in Greek all three words start with a Greek S): Synetos = Sensible - Synepis = Sequel - Synnus = Somber For the academic librarian to be a useful channel for scientific research, it is necessary to serve the slogan «Ask -learn - laugh», concepts that respectively present 1) the indicator of the continuous education or continuous training (Ask), 2) the indicator of the information dissemination (Learn), 3) the indicator of the always good mood and kindness towards the user. The academic libraries need to develop a new relationship with the users, based on parameters, such as information, education, communication. The efficiency of these parameters depends on the satisfaction of the needs of the librarian in the library as an individual and as a professional. These needs, as Masiow showed schematically with his pyramid, were researched with a questionnaire that was given to a sample of 50 Greek academic librarians, and came to the conclusion that the academic library, constructed schematically with the services as another pyramid, may accomplish great things via the librarians, as long as they will be condescended and morally and materially satisfied.
