- Library and information professionals are faced with the challenge of acquiring a new skill which has been brought about by the rapid and dynamic development of the Internet in recent years, that of webpage design. Librarians need to have an understanding of basic concepts involved in webpage design but more importantly of the principles which constitute an accessible and effective website. This presentation will deal with the "art" of creating useable and accessible websites and provide pointers on some of the problems and pitfalls in website design. Additionally we will share useful tips and advises on how to create or improve a website that will attract and hold the attention of its users. Finally the last part of the presentation will tackle the issue of accessible websites for visually impaired and blind people.
