- The development of the Centre for the Management of Medical Information (KEDIP - from the Greek initials) was financed by the Greek Ministry of Education, under the EPEAEK initiative and it was pursued in order to put an end to the fragmented academic environment, from the point of view of the access to international sources of Medical Information that concerns both students and educators. Some of the major aim points of KEDIP include the quality improvement of the educational process with the use of modern technology, the development and application of educational tools, as well as, contemporary visualisation media. Significance was paid to the fact that the INTERNET platform should form the basis for structuring and developing the services and all the associated applications under the use of internationally validated and certified technologies. As a system, KEDIP includes three entities/subsystems: the health information management subsystem, the communication subsystem, the finally, the subsystem for the support of the educational process. In this piece of work, we refer to the general ideas and methodologies that have been followed during the analysis, design, implementation and finally evaluation of the project. The results from the evaluation procedure indicate that the Centre is well capable of advancing the modern educational process.
