- A policy to develop an integrated learning environment of a mixed type of conventional and e-learning material available to the mechanical engineering students of the TEI of Patras is highlighted. The target was to increase the efficiency and effectivity in learning, offering students specially designed tools fitting their skills, interests and requirements, also cultivating their talents for searching. Two types of e-tools were developed: a. A platform eclass which hosts lectures, tests for students, links, curriculum details, even presentation under the PowerPoint, announcements, chatting, workings groups, exercise that the students can upload to the teacher, etc. b. An e-library where voluminous information about other sites concerning the course(s), other e-books available, software developed and free to use, E.U. policy and management matters, Questions/Answers, web searching are stored in it. The paper describes the two e-learning approaches and comments on their acceptability by staff and students, as well as the requirements that both of them pose.
