- The Reading Club of Monte Alto (Corunna)has become a meeting place for an important group of people of this neighborhood, which present a challenging social reality: immigrants, aged people, people with family problems, etc. After five years working in this background, we try to offer here a brief summary of our experiences. We consider that a Reading Club fulfills the main mission of a library: a place for all offering equal access to reading and information. This success has been possible thanks to several facts: mainly, the personal implication of library staff in the spreading and the development of the activity; but also, the ability to identify the existence of a strong demand by different groups (women, retired and/or inmigrants, either from other Spanish autonomous communities or foreigners).
