- In Austria, there are many written documents in arabic script. The reason that they are not known properly is to be found in the lack of resources (personal and financial), ignorance and disinterest. The aim of this work is to find out how to locate these documents systematically and how to make them accessible. For this one has to ask: "Who could have come into contact with people who wrote in Arabic script?" and "Where could the documents and items have ended up?" After archives and museums one has to look especially at monastery libraries and generally collecting libraries (in opposition to public libraries). Flukes and single occurrences can not be excluded. The best is to make the results accessible in a relational SQL database with the trancription system of the Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft.
