- Task for digital and traditional libraries were described on the basis of changes of editorial environment, users and universities needs and expectations. Libraries offer electronic and paper documents, but they should rather concentrate on support for eScience and virtual learning environment. These activities allow them not only to exist in 21 century, but also to give perspectives for further improvement. Academic libraries need new forms of activities, focus on information literacy and information assistance services, offer more personalized services, modify organization structures and methods of work. But the most important task for libraries is to be embedded in university environment to improve university services.
