- Library, documentary and information services are approached from a theoretical and historic perspective, considering their essence, evolution and present state. The high value-added, tailor-made, and knowledge-oriented information services are defined. The supply of information services with these characteristics is a basic precedent to obtain a high impact in a users' community and in society in general. Today, diverse generations of services directed to the satisfaction of the various needs of information of the users coexist in a library.
