  • Sociological arguments regarding the theoretical connection between libraries and society are outlined. The objective is to help determine new lines of study and analysis within the framework of social library science. In this way a view is offered which can begin a current debate about some fundamental concepts revolving around the development of libraries within a social context. Our sociological reflections are about: 1] The connection of libraries and society 2] Society without libraries contrasted to society with libraries, 3] Libraries as the social organic brains of civilized culture and 4] libraries as reflection of the social relationships of class.
