- From Léonie La Fontaine, in the last years of the XIX century, to Suzanne Briet in the years '30-'50s, to the sites of women in the Net, the Scientific and Technical women Documentation, in accordance with the addresses of Brussels Documentary Policy, plays an important role for the defense of the person and the equal opportunities. Together with the North-American pioneers in the field of Librarianship and Information Sciences, important figures for the affirmation of the Documentation in Italy are described; protagonists who joined the Otlet Movement and prepared the development of the Documentation in Italy in the '80s. AIDA, from the gender point of view, is proposed as a case study and the profile of one of its founder, Maria Pia Carosella, is outlined.
