  • Bibliographic information displays has been analysed from different points of view. This study is based on the IFLA Guidelines for OPAC displays (1998 and 2003), that state the minimun right presentation of bibliographic records in online catalogues. Once both IFLA documents were compared, it has been developed a evaluation checklist that includes these suggestions concerning bibliographic information displays. The aim was to use it to measure to what extent some of the main library management systems implemented in Spanish academic libraries fulfil this proposed guidelines. Results show that is a wide gap between the features of existing OPAC systems and the ideal ones suggested by IFLA; the average score of the fulfilment for the OPAC included in this study was 55%, and the systems that scored highest were Millennium, Unicorn, Aleph and Absys.
