- Many libraries have begun to offer the traditional service of reference in a digital form, helped by the new technologies. The origins of the digital reference service, their different denominations and ways of putting them in scene are reviewed: Web forms, electronic mail, chats or forums. Along with it we can find a classification to this type of services based on the interrelation with the user as well as the international recommendations for the service and a brief review of experiences on digital reference.
