- This paper presents the options for classification-based display and retrieval in the OPAC of the Austrian Library Network and that have recently been implemented in the course of a version change. First, a brief status report is given on the classification numbers present in the records of the central catalogue. What follows is a presentation of the OPAC's features for dealing with notations of the classification of the (German) Periodicals Database (ZDB), the Regensburg Classification Scheme (RVK), and the Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC). Furthermore, a strategy for establishing the MSC as an authority database is discussed, which might also be used for the implementation of the German version of the Dutch Basic Classification (BC) in the near future.
