- In the early years of the twenty first century a huge development of the theorical framework for the implementation of e-government services based on interoperability has undergone. The final objective in this field consists of configuring a theorical and normative framework throght the creation of an "interoperability framework" for e-government services which can be used by public organizations to generate interoperable contents, products and services. This paper analyses the European and Spanish policies and initiatives related to e-goverment interoperability. Some possibilities and prospects of xml technologies to improve content interoperability and to manage public information in an efficient way are proposed.
