- This article points out the level of visibility reached by the scientific journals from Universidad de Costa Rica. This takes into consideration three aspects: the descriptive data that demonstrates the presence of publications in world indexes and databases; on the Web; and the number of journal subscriptions and library exchanges. Furthermore, it demonstrates how international cooperation can be an excellent window through which scientific articles can reach higher visibility, not just the traditional ways as cite indexes or impact factor. Finally, Costa Rica ́s presence in LATINDEX system is presented as a fruitful experience and as an example about what Central America and less favored regions could do in order to get science visibility.
