- Archival function of appraisal, one of the basis of a records management system, is analyzed in this article from the perspective of its application to electronic records. It analyses what appraisal model better responds to new challenges. It also presents a proposal of the principles that could inspire this process, focusing on identification models. These principles are applied to the practical appraisal of different electronic records (databases, office records, e-mail and Web pages). As exemple of this proposal, this article describes a new electronic records appraisal spanish experience.
