- This article introduces E-LIS: E-Prints in Library and Information Science. After a short description of the serials crisis (journal affordability problem, access/impact problem), the concept of open access is explained and it is stated, that open access archives like E-LIS can play a major role in providing open access literature. Following that, the article describes the functionalities and the technical background of E-LIS.
