  • This paper begins with a research of Library and Information Science studies, which has recently celebrate its 20 years like academic studies in Spain. After that, authors analys public libraries in Andalusia, focus primarily on information technology they have implemented. The paper ends with an evaluation of “Andalusian Library System” (more than 600 libraries), using performance indicators, such as circulation per capita or growth rate in document collection. Besides this “traditional” indicators, new indicators, called by authors “second level indicators”, are presented. In essence the characterising quality of these is that they present high resolution results and bring us more information. "System power" is probably the best and more interesting of these new indicators.
