- This work presents the current situation and the perspectives of future of the Virtual Library of Sciences of the Health of the Balearic Islands, autonomic project carried out in collaboration between the Council of Health and Consumption and the Service of Health of the Balearic Islands (Ib-salut), which has as aim facilitate, to the professionals of the sanitary public service of the Balearic Islands, the access to an important number of electronic resources of scientific relevant and updated information, complementing the available resources in each of the libraries of the sanitary autonomic system, helping to satisfy this way its needs of information, with the intention of which it redounds to the improvement of the quality of its welfare, educational and investigative tasks. The professional of an institution, from the web site, will accede of authenticated form, from its institution, domicile, or from any computer connected to Internet, to the services offered by the virtual library, as well as to a selection of electronic scientific resources, where there agglutinates the totality of the contracted resources, so much for the autonomous community, as for the library of its institution. The improvement of the web site, as well as the constant diffusion between the users of the services and resources offered by the virtual library and the training in the utilisation of the tools of search are, with the interlibrary cooperation and the study of new products and services, some of the points to work at the development of this project.
