- The article provides an overview of the general aspects of research in Chile. Analyzes the contribution from librarians to scientific research in Chile. Outlines the incipient aspects of librarian research in the country which is the conclusion derived from the application of the parameters used to measure the scientific research production to the field of librarianship research, which is, mainly, the result of pre and post graduates works. The fact that most of the professional work in librarianship in Chile, at present, consist in the elaboration of projects to get funded in order to improve library and information services in the country, is also commented.
