- Integrative Libraries are libraries with services addressing ethnical, lingual and cultural minorities. They offer media in the most common languages of foreigners living near the library, but also German media like teaching material to learn German, guidebooks for managing everyday life or media concerning topics like migration, cross-culturality, integration etc. The target of this paper is to work out the theoretical and practical basic principles for the conceptual design of such an Integrative Library in the Pestalozzi-Library Zurich (PBZ). Furthermore the paper is thought as an assistance for public libraries which plan to build up an Integrative Library. In the theoretical part, History, the development and the state of the art of that type of library which arouse in the seventies. In the practical part contends an investigation about which languages should be offered in an Integrative Library in Zurich.
