- In this paper the role of the digital library in the process of archiving, organizing and providing access to technical information is presented. Technical information can be in the form of: books, technical manuals, technical reports, journals, online catalogs, databases, patents, and industrial specifications. It also discusses how the technical digital library can provide services to users in order to find medical, technical and scientific information; for example: online reference services, Web based library instruction, and document delivery services. It proposes that the role of the digital library in developing countries can be of significant importance to a region because the digital library can effectively provide the scientific, medical and technical information required for the support of new high-tech industry, education, and other industries such finance, transportation, and agriculture.
